Are you ready for baseball to start up again? You're in luck! The second annual All 4 Lou Showdown on Tuesday, March 19, features the Vandy Boys vs. the Belmont Bruins and raises money for the Live Like Lou Fund for ALS Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).
The Showdown is at First Horizon Park, home of the Nashville Sounds, and gates open at 5 p.m., with the game starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12.68 for general admission seating.With each ticket purchased, $4 will fund ALS research at VUMC. The four honors Lou Gehrig, whose jersey was the first to be retired by Major League Baseball after his diagnosis with ALS in 1939.
The Live Like Lou Foundation and VUMC have worked together since 2020, committing more than $5.1 million to fund Middle Tennessee's largest investment in ALS discovery. This unique public, private, and institutional partnership has built a community of support to sustain new science for this disease that needs more ‘at bats’ to find treatments or a cure. Earlier this year, Véronique Belzil, PhD, MS, began as VUMC's Director of ALS Research, funded through Live Like Lou's It's a Whole New Ballgame campaign.
