The Pittsburgh Pirates Lou Gehrig Day game was a special one!
We proudly presented Ali Khawaja with an Onward Award on the field before the game. Ali's father, Tom, has been living with ALS since 2018. Ali graduated summa cum laude last month from Rutgers University-Newark with a major in neuroscience and minors in biology and pre-medicine. This summer, he will take the MCAT and apply to medical school. His overall career goal is to become a medical doctor specializing in interventional neurology.
In addition, Live Like Lou was joined by our dear friends from the Parton family. Sarah has been living with ALS since 2022, and her granddaughter, Sasha, announced "play ball" during the pre-game festivities!
We loved seeing our friend Daryl Fields at the game, our 2022 Postdoctoral Fellowship recipient who is involved with ALS research at the University of Pittsburgh.
Live Like Lou is so appreciative of our community and supporters who were in attendance to help us leave ALS better than we found it!
Together, we can make a difference while honoring Lou Gehrig’s legacy. Here are ways you can help!
